Imlil Valley
(2 Reviews)
Information

Away from the hot Moroccan sun and craziness of Marrakech souks, it is the quaint mountain village of Imlil, which serves as the main trekking base for Mount Toubkal. A short distance away from Marrakech, the landscape offers a range of geographic diversity as the desert heat and sights of the red city dissipates into snow-capped mountains. In Imlil, experience the perfect oasis to go on a hike to various ranges of Mount Toubkal - either staying closer to the base of the village; around 2,000 meter mark, or right up to the summit at 4,167 meters high. For a refreshing change of scenery away from the hustle and bustle of busy Marrakech, Imlil village is a short 1.5 hour drive towards Atlas Mountain, and serves as a base and entry point for hikers that are keen to explore and hike Mount Toubkal. This area is also known as Toubkal national park. There are several guesthouses and restaurants that can serve as a great base for hikes.

we will start the day with an 8:30AM pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech by one of our English-speaking colleagues in a A/C vehicle for your private party.

Then we will head towards Atlas Mountain and throughout the drive-away from Marrakech, we will be seeing olive groves and lush valleys, as well as Tahanout (famously known for its Tuesday weekly market) and Asni (known for Saturday market). We can stop at either of these markets if you please.

After a short drive away from Asni, we'll arrive in Imlil, where we will stop for lunch and you can go on treks towards Toubkal. If this is a day trip only, you will have the opportunity to hike with a local guide or take a mule for a short trek to get to Kassbah Toubkal and visit the small waterfalls of Imlil. If you wish to stay longer for an overnight trek, we can accommodate upon booking and work with you to arrange for various levels of difficulty and altitudes.
